CM conducts whirlwind tour of Kulgam district

Srinagar/May,24: Continuing with her public outreach, Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti Thursday visited various parts of Kulgam district. She listened to the problems of the people and issued on the spot directions for the redressal of the same.
The Chief Minister visited Kellam, Qazigund, Devsar, Mir Bazaar, Your Khushipora and conducted an extensive tour of Kund area.
At Qazigund, the Chief Minister interacted with a large number of people who projected many of their demands.
Mehbooba Mufti told them that Government intends to develop Qazigund in a befitting manner to make it the gateway of Kashmir in real sense. She assured the people that the healthcare facilities would be further strengthened at Qazigund and possibilities of setting up a skill development institute in the area would also be explored.
The Chief Minister visited Devsar where she also interacted with the people and listened to their demands. She promised them to look into their demands including setting up of a Range Office and strengthening of medical facilities in the area.
At Your Khushipora, the Chief Minister visited the Primary Health Centre. She visited various units of the PHC and took stock of its functioning. She also interacted with the local people who demanded construction of a playfield and setting up of a JK Bank branch in the area.
Mehbooba Mufti assured them to look into their demands.
The Chief Minister visited Mir Bazaar where people demanded raising of a flood protection bund on Vaishow nallah in the area. At Bongam, the people gave a warm reception to the Chief Minister. They also put up several demands including setting up of a railway halt point at Sangran, a branch of JK Bank and upgradation of local health sub centre to a PHC.
Mehbooba Mufti assured them to look into these issues.
Later, the Chief Minister visited the shrine of Hazrat Rahim Sahib Bindu (R.A.) at Nova, Bongam and paid her respects at the shrine. The devotees at the shrine also met the Chief Minister and complained of water scarcity in the area.
Mehbooba Mufti directed the Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam to prepare a detailed project report for augmenting the water supply in the area.
The Chief Minister also visited Kellam where a large number of people greeted her. They demanded upgradation of a local hospital in view of the increased load and huge catchment area.
Mehbooba Mufti directed the district administration to examine the demand and project it appropriately.
Later, the Chief Minister conducted an extensive tour of the Kund area.
Enroute, the Chief Minister stopped at Gund Pora, Botengoo, Bachigam, Ruzulu and Nowbagh where she met the people and listened to their grievances. The people who met the Chief Minister sought augmentation of drinking water facility, electricity and medical facilities in the area. They also demanded irrigation facilities for the farmers of the area and posting of adequate staff in the schools in the area.
At Warpora, the Chief Minister distributed financial assistance among the victims of a recent fire incident.
The Chief Minister visited the shrine of Hazrat Syed Noor Shah Baghdadi (R.A.) at Waltengoo and paid her obeisance there.
MP, Nazir Ahmad Laway; former Deputy Speaker of Legislative Assembly, Muhammad Sartaj Madni and officers of district administration accompanied the Chief Minister during the visit.
