Srinagar/May,24: After exchanging heavy fire with government forces in Hakdipora village in Pulwama district in South Kashmir late Tuesday night the militants fled from the area.
Reports said the government forces laid siege to the village and launched a search operation after inputs about the presence of at least three militants. As the searches continued, militants present in the area opened fire on the search party and tried to break the cordon. The forces retaliated, triggering an encounter, which lasted for nearly half an hour.
As the news of the gunfight spread in the area, people from nearby villages reached the gunfight site and pelted stones on the forces personnel, who retaliated with teargas shells.The operation was,according to reports, called off at around 7 am.
