Srinagar/May,22One-day awareness workshop on Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS) for students of J&K was Monday organized by AICTE in collaboration with Department of Higher Education at Amar Singh College, here.
The aim of the workshop was to acquaint the desirous students, parents and other stakeholders about the scheme. Around 1000 persons attended the workshop.
On the occasion, the resource persons highlighted the various aspects and issues related to the scheme and clarified the quires and confusions regarding PMSSS.
Prof Dileep Malkhede, Advisor PMSSS AICTE, Rakesh Kumar Ganju, Assistant Director (RIFD-PMSSS), Dr Yaseen Ahmad Shah, Registrar Cluster University Srinagar and Prof Muhammad Aslam Baba, Nodal Officer/ Principal A S College and other concerned officers were present during the workshop.
To mention, more than 17,000 students have, till date, registered for the PMSSS for the academic session 2017-18. Given the overwhelming response of the students, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) extended the last date for online registration up to 31st May 2017.
This year 2800 seats would be available in engineering streams while another 1000 seats would be available in other courses under PMSSS.
