Srinagar/May,23: On the directions of Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri an intensive drive was launched by the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) assisted by police in the district. More than 25 vehicles involved in violation of route permits were seized. The drive was started after frequent complaints of three-wheelers creating congestion and traffic jam in Rajouri town.
DC Rajouri deputed a team comprising Assistant Commissioner Rajouri, Assistant Regional Transport Officer and police officers for inspection and seizure of vehicles involved in violation of routes in contravention of permits granted by Road Transport Authority.
During the drive, 21 three-wheelers have been seized apart from 2 Tractors and 1 Earth Excavator.
ARTO Rajouri laid simultaneous Nakas at various places including Abdullah Bridge, Main Bus Stand, Gujjar Mandi, Kheora Ground, Kheora Convoy Chowk, TCP Chowk, Salani and Jawahar Nagar.
He also realized a fine of Rs 25500 from vehicles involved in violation. The drive will continue to ensure traffic congestion is minimized in city as vehicles plying in city in violation of route permits have remained a serious concern.
