Student protests continue unabated

Srinagar/May,15:  The students continued to clash with the government forces at several places on Tuesday during which scores of students got injured.
However, the class work at SP Higher Secondary School in Srinagar and Government Degree College Magam and Boys Higher Secondary School Magam remained suspended Tuesday in view of the student protests.
Eye witness said scores of students including a cop were injured during the clashes in Pattan area Tuesday that erupted after the students were disallowed to carry out their protest march.
The students tried to march towards the main Chowk Pattan Tuesday during which forces used tear gas canisters to disperse them, triggering clashes.
Officials said three among the injured students were shifted to Srinagar’s hospital for treatment. “One among the three injured students has received pellet injuries,” officials said.
Clashes also broke out in Hajin area of Bandipora district. The students of Higher Secondary Hajin pelted stones during the protest that took place after the deployment of forces reached near Higher Secondary Hajin.
The forces retaliated, triggering clashes between protesting students and forces in the area.
However, the vehicles were seen stranded on the either sides of the either sides of the Srinagar-Bandipora roads.
Reports said the clashes between the protesting students and the forces also took place in Khanyar area.
The students of MPML Higher Secondary School carried out a protest march during which they also pelted stones on them.
The forces used tear gas canisters to disperse the protesting youth.
Clashes between the students of Government Degree College Dooru and the government forces erupted in Larkipora area after Army personnel allegedly thrashed students who were on way to their college.
The students alleged that some of their classmates were beaten by the Army personnel when they were on way to their college.
As soon as the news spread in the GDC Dooru, the students took to streets and staged protest against the ‘Amy action’.
Witnesses said that the students also pelted stones during which forces used tear gas canisters to disperse them, triggering clashes.
Meanwhile, a police official said that some students at few places pelted stones on the forces in which some students and cops received injuries.
He said that the students tried to block the roads but the forces disallowed them to hamper the vehicular movement due to which they pelted stones on the forces.
