Jammu/May,17:Speaker Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta, Wednesday advocated massive awareness among people about ill effects of using polythene bags on environment and personal health as well.
“People are greatly instrumental in ensuring a complete ban on Poly bags as without their participation such common causes cannot meet their destination”, the Speaker maintained while making a fervent appeal to the people to supplement government’s efforts in this regard.
The Speaker was speaking as a chief guest on the concluding day of a weeklong program Swachhta Saptah organized at BDO office, Satwari.
SDM Jammu South Sonu Pargal, ACD M.Latifi Balwan, DPO Anirudh Rai, Tehsildars, BDO Satwari Arun Kumar Khajuria, BMO, CDPO Satwari besides other senior officers and people of the local area were present on the occasion.
Kavinder elaborated in detail the importance of launching such sanitation programs as a healthy and clean environment is pre-requisite for creating a healthy world to live in. He said the need is to raise awareness about such missions on a wider scale so that the real aim behind such people friendly programs is met.
“The message of ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ should reach every household,” Speaker said, adding that the society should support the government in creating awareness among the masses about benefits of healthy sanitation practices.
On the occasion, an informative culture program based on the subject was also presented.
