Srinagar/May,15:  Minister of State for Housing & Urban Development, Social Welfare, Health & Medical Education, Asiea Naqash, Monday visited the Parimpora Fruit Mandi to assess the infrastructural facilities available to the traders there.

The Minister took note of the deteriorated condition of drainage and roads in the Mandi and issued on-spot directions to the UEED to prepare a DPR for connecting the affected stretch with its drainage running around the Mandi.

She said after the drainage works, all the link roads of the Mandi will be repaired and its interior’s black-topped in due course. She assured the representatives of the concerned traders association, who called on her during her visit, that all of their genuine concerns will be addressed on priority.

She also directed the concerned for maintenance of proper sanitation besides timely dewatering at the Mandi.

Later, Asiea visited the under-construction site for Bus Terminal at Parimpora. She was informed that phase first of the project, which will accommodate some 400 buses besides sumos and matadors once it is completed, has been nearly completed and expressed satisfaction with the pace of work.

The Minister said the shifting of the General Bus Stand Batamaloo to Parimpora Bus Terminal will decongest the core area of the City without hampering business activity at the Batamaloo, where inter-connectivity transportation of the city will continue to operate from.

Joint Commissioner SMC, concerned SEs and EEs, UEED and R&B, among other concerned officers of SDA accompanied the Minister during the visit.
