DC Srinagar reviews arrangements for holy month of Ramadan

Srinagar/May,13: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone Saturday convened a meeting with senior officers of different department to review the arrangements made by the district administration for smooth celebration of holy month of Ramadan.

Joint Commissioner SMC Syed Abdul Qasim, Deputy Director CAPD and other officials were present in this meeting.

Calling for ensuring the availability of all requisite and essential commodities to the people on prescribed rate during the Holy Month of Ramadan, Deputy Commissioner asked the officers of all departments to work in synergized manner so that the people do not face any inconvenience during the Holy Month.

Deputy Commissioner directed the Executive Engineer PDD to ensure that the consumers get adequate power supply especially at the time of Iftar and Sehri as well as in all shrines. He also directed them to repair all defunct street lights, damaged poles and transformers before the holy month of Ramadan.

DC was informed that Kursoo Raj Bagh, Dalgate and Balgarden Karan Nagar areas facing acute shortage of water supply due to the necessary repair works of water supply schemes.

Directing the officials of PHE department for ensuring adequate supply of potable water, the he also asked to provide water tankers to the areas that are facing water shortage so that people should not face water crises in the month of Ramadan. He also directed to restore the water supply to affected areas within a week.

He further directed the authorities of CA&FSA department to keep available essential commodities for the general public and asked for effective monitoring of public distribution mechanism in the district and ensured that the quota of ration reaches and distributed to the people well in time.

DC appealed the people to purchase a meat at government approved rates, if any meat-seller demands extra amount then people should inform the Police for strict action against the erring Meat-seller. He also directed to CA&FSA officials to constitute checking squads to intensify market checking and take strict action against the hoarders and black marketers.

The legal metrology department was also directed to ensure regular market checking to keep vigil on the rates charged by the shopkeepers during the Holy Month and take action against the violators.

The Deputy Commissioner asked the Municipal Committees to maintain proper sanitation and cleanliness in and around the places of worships and at the places of congregations. He also directed them to arrange proper mechanism so that dog menace is curbed.
