Gulmarg voted as best adventure destination

Srinagar/May,12: Popular skiing destination Gulmarg has been voted as the best adventure destination by Holiday IQ – India’s first and largest online traveler community.

Director Tourism Kashmir, Mahmood A Shah, received the award on Thursday at a glittering function at Taj Hotel, Delhi at a function in which Minister of State in Prime Minister’s Office, Dr Jitendra Singh, was the chief guest. While as Minister of State for Information Technology & Tourism Government of Karnataka, Priyank M Kharge, was the guest of honor.

Gulmarg has been rated as the best adventure destination owing to its unique and unmatched beauty particularly during winter months when it is carpeted with white snow. Adventure lovers from across the globe visit Gulmarg for skiing, snowboarding, ice-staking besides enjoying unparalleled beauty.

Owing to its numerous world class features, Holiday IQ voted Gulmarg as the best winter destination on the basis of ratings by over 12 million travelers who are logging in every month through the Holiday IQ site and the app.

On the occasion, the Director Tourism Kashmir said Gulmarg is the main unique selling proposition (USP) for Kashmir which attracts millions of travelers from across the globe.

He said the Department of Tourism is also making vigorous campaigns through road shows and travel marts to attract travelers to Kashmir.

The other destinations which were voted during the award ceremony are Amritsar which was voted as favorite pilgrim destination, Konark in Orissa as best Heritage destination, Kerala as Best Water Front Destination, Mahindra and Mahindra as Favorite Resort, Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh as Favorite City, Karnataka Beach as Favorite Beach Destination.

Among others, Founder & CEO HolidayIQ.com Hari Nair and Managing Director Facebook India Umang Bedi were also present on the occasion.
