Srinagar/May,12: Chief Electoral Officer J&K, Shantmanu Friday chaired a meeting to review the status of preparation of Electoral Rolls for Panchayati Elections.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone, Director Panchayati Raj Asif Hamid Khan, Director Rural Development Department Gazanfar Hussain, Joint CEO, Dr Raman Kumar Kesar, Deputy CEO Jammu Krishan Lal, Assistant CEO Kashmir and other officers attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Shantmanu reviewed progress on establishment of new Panchayats and wards in the state.
CEO was apprised that in the three districts of Kashmir division including Baramulla, Bandipora and Kupwara, the draft of electoral rolls is almost complete. Further it was told that in Ladakh and Jammu division, the work for preparing electoral rolls and establishment of new Panchayats and wards is under process.
Besides, the works for establishing new Panchayats and wards in the remaining districts of Kashmir division is also expected to be processed soon.
CEO also directed the RDD and Urban Development Departments to resolve the jurisdiction issues so that local bodies and Municipal elections can be conducted in a smooth and organized manner.
