Srinagar/May,9: Police on Tuesday chased away students who marched out of their campuses and tried to stage protests on MA road Srinagar.
Eye witnesses said cops thrashed protesting girl students of Govt College for Women M A Road here during the ensuing clashes.
Earlier, the students of SP School and Women’s College tried to take out a protest march against the civilian killings in Kashmir.
However, a large posse of police and forces intercepted them just outside the college gates, triggering clashes.
Eye witnesses said that the shopkeepers had a heated argument with police after the former provided water to an unconscious girl student.
They claimed that the girl became unconscious after a policeman kicked her in the stomach.
Earlier, the students from schools and colleges of neighboring educational institutes assembled near Exchange Road and resorted to stone pelting.
They also hit the bunker outside Telephone exchange with canes.
The vehicular movement on MA Road and residency Road remained affected during the clashes.
