Srinagar/May,9: Governor N. N. Vohra, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh and Chairman legislative council Haji Anayat Ali have in their separate statements greeted the people on Buddha Purnima and hoped that the auspicious occasion would augur peace, progress and prosperity in the State.
In his message of felicitations, the Governor N N Vohra described Lord Buddha as an apostle of peace whose message of ahimsa and non-violence assumes much greater relevance Tuesday when the world is faced with growing intolerance, violence and terrorism. The Governor prayed for the well-being of the people of the State.
In her message of greetings Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti expressed the hope that the auspicious occasion would augur peace, progress and prosperity for the State. The Chief Minister prayed for the well-being of the people of the State.
In his message of felicitations, Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh described Lord Buddha as an apostle of peace whose message of ahimsa and non-violence assumes much greater relevance in the present age when the world is faced with growing intolerance, violence and terrorism.
In his messageof greetings , Chairman Legislative Council Haji Anayat said Lord Buddha besides being an apostle of peace, harmony was a champion of non-violence. He added that his teachings are more relevant in Tuesday’s age where certain forces are trying to preach the cult of violence and hatred.
He also expressed hope that the occasion would be the harbinger of peace and prosperity in the State.
