Srinagar/May,8: Minister of State for Hajj & Auqaf, PHE and Irrigation & Flood Control, Power Development, Industries & Commerce Farooq Ahmad Andrabi Monday directed the officials to make all street lights installed across all towns functional within three days.
Andrabi was chairing a high level meeting to take stock of installation and repair of Street lights in Kashmir Division. The meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary PDD Dheeraj Gupta, Commissioner Secretary Housing and Urban Development Department Hirdesh Kumar, Secretary Tourism Farooq A Shah, Commissioner SMC and other officials of the concerned department
Andrabi expressed his concern over the non-functioning of street lights in many areas and directed for urgent repairing of damaged street lights and installation of new lights at places where lights have not been installed till date.
The Minister directed the officials that installation and repair of street lights in all towns should be carried out by Urban Local Bodies within three days. He further directed officials of SMC, PDD to identify all link roads jointly and directed that the lighting works should be carried out in these link roads within one week.
The Minister further asked officers to ensure proper lighting of children park, and other public spots experiencing heavy rush of visitors.
