Srinagar/May 06: Teaching work remained suspended in Government Degree College (GDC) and boys and girls Higher Secondary Schools (HSS) in apple township of Sopore in north Kashmir district of Baramulla as precautionary measure.
District Magistrate (DM), Baramulla, has ordered suspension of the teaching work in GDC and HSSs for two days from yesterday.
The suspension of teaching work was ordered following massive clashes on May 4 when students boycotted their classes and hit the streets, demanding release of students who were arrested during protests against entry of security forces into Degree College, Pulwama last month.
However, students at Bomai, Sopore, clashed with security forces yesterday also.
Security forces burst teargas shells and resorted to lathcharge to disperse demonstrators who hit the streets after Friday prayers at Sopore, disrupted normal life. However, business and other activities were normal Saturday.
