Srinagar, May 7: Life was crippled in parts of south Kashmir district of Kulgam, where large number of people joined the funeral of Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militant who was killed in an encounter last night in which three civilians and a policeman also lost their lives in an encounter.

However, the burial of the LeT militant Fayaz Ahmad who was carrying a reward of Rs 2 lakh announced by National Investigation Agency(NIA) for his involvement in Udhampur 2015 attack, passed off peacefully.
Shops and business establishments remained closed and traffic was also off the roads at Qoimoh and adjoining villages in Kulgam district, where the militant was buried.
Meanwhile, uneasy calm prevailed at Mir Bazar, Kulgam, on Srinagar-Jammu national highway, where the encounter took place.
Large number of security forces and state police personnel remained deployed on both sides of the highway to prevent any stone pelting or protests.
Majority shops remained closed though there was no strike call from any organizations, locals said adding people were still in shock after last night encounter.
Very less number of vehicles could be seen plying on interior roads, they said adding traffic on the highway was normal though today vehicles were allowed to ply from Jammu to Srinagar only.
Militants attacked a police party at Mir Bazar in which three civilians and a policeman were killed. A LeT militant Fayaz Ahmad was also killed while two other militants had managed to escape under the cover of darkness.
