Burglars posing policemen looted cash and cell-phones from Bihari labourers

Srinagar/May 06: Illahibagh area falling under the jurisdiction of police station Zakoora here in Srinagar city has become the hub of burglars. Thieves strike at will while police is clueless and have failed to bust the infamous gang of burglars.
Introducing themselves as policemen, a group of three burglars carrying ‘toy’ guns and pistol entered into a room occupied by Bihari labourers at Rangpora Illahibagh on the night of April 26 last month. The house is owned by Bashir Ahmed Dar said the burglars disguising as cops lined up all the labourers for verification purpose.
“They directed frightened labourers to handover their cell phones and cash. The burglars took away 13 costly mobile phones and Rs 27000. They asked these labourers to visit the police station next morning and collect these cell-phones and cash from there,” Dar said and added that they are not policemen but militants.
He said before this incident, a number of theft cases were reported from the same area.
An FIR vide number 14/2017 under section 392, 457 RPC stands registered at police station Zakoora in this regard.
In another incident in the same area, burglars looted gold and jewelry worth Rs 35 lakh from the house of one Ghulam Muhammad Bhat. “The looted gold and jewelry belonged to my three daughters. The incident occurred on March 18 while police have registered an FIR in this regard. My daughters are quite depressed and are pinning hopes on police,” said Ghulam Muhammad Bhat of Alamdar Colony B, Rangpora Illahibagh.
Station House Officer Zakoora said culprits will be identified and booked. “It is a challenge for me and I hope victims will get justice. We are thoroughly investigation the matter,” he said.
