Ganderbal/May,4: Chief Secretary,  B. B. Vyas Friday visited district headquarter Ganderbal to review the progress of various developmental projects and programs in the district.

He was accompanied by Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir  Baseer Ahmad Khan other senior officers.

Chief Secretary reviewed the progress of key developmental projects and welfare programs in the district, decisions taken in the District Development Board meetings and various commitments of the Chief Minister besides District Annual and the Credit Plan. He also reviewed the implementation of the Tribal Sub-Plan in the district.

Urging the district administration to take advantage of the government’s decision towards release of funds upfront, Chief Secretary said this should enable timely execution of the projects and their completion. He also stressed on pooling of resources and convergence between the activities of various departments. He emphasised upon forging greater coordination for implementation of the Tribal-Sub Plan.

Highlighting the need for drawing up area specific projects/programs, Chief Secretary called for standardizing their type design to cut costs and to ensure optimal utilization of resources.

He asked the Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal to periodically review the implementation of various programs/schemes to facilitate early resolution of bottlenecks, if any and to ensure percolation of benefits to the targeted population.

He also advised the officers of various departments to switch over to online monitoring of developmental works alongwith regular uploading of photographs/ visuals.

Chief Secretary asked the officers to set targets for establishing various self employment units in sectors having rich potential in the district like poultry, milk, fish and handicrafts.

Emphasising upon the need to intensify sports activities across educational institutions, the Chief Secretary asked the Youth Services & Sports department to draw up calendar of sports activities in consultation with district administration and school education department to avoid overlap of academic and sports activities.

Chief Secretary also stressed on mass outreach by organizing regular interactions with people, delivery of public services as per the mandated timelines and introduction of bio-metric attendance system in all offices.

Chief Secretary underscored that pace of development in the state will improve only when the administrative machinery carries out its assigned job with speed, efficiency, dedication and accountability. He exhorted the officers to re-energize, re-dedicate and re-commit themselves to their responsibilities and work selflessly towards achieving public good.
