Abu Dhabi: Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and German Chancellor Angela Merkel discussed the latest regional developments in Syria, Libya and Yemen, and the efforts of both countries to combat extremist and terrorist groups, and their joint coordination to support stability and security in the region.
This came during a meeting held in Abu Dhabi on Monday, after which the German chancellor left the United Arab Emirates, concluding an official visit.
The two sides also discussed developments on the international arena and their implications, as well as the need for communication and dialogue among major international players to agree on a positive understanding to support global peace and stability.
Sheikh Mohamed called for greater German participation to support stability and development given the global influence of Germany and Chancellor Merkel, as well as her influential opinions and wide knowledge of regional and global matters.
According to Emirates News Agency WAM, the UAE is Germany’s largest trade partner in the Gulf and Arab region. The volume of trade exchange between the two countries stands at $16 billion and it is increasing steadily due to economic and trade cooperation that provides great potential and incentives, especially in technology, space, renewable energy, tourism and other areas.
