NC, Congress slam BJP’s Amit Shah for ‘polarising’ JK

Srinagar, Apr 30: Opposition National Conference and Congress parties Sunday slammed the BJP national president Amit Shah for his “divisive and polarizing” statement on Jammu and Kashmir.
“BJP’s only aim is to form governments in states without thinking about development and respect to democracy, whether they (BJP) form it by polarizing voters or other means,” Nasir Aslam Wani, National Conference provincial president, told KNS.
“The very fact that they (BJP) are talking about Jammu and Ladakh means that they are trying to divide the state on communal lines,” Wani added.
BJP’s Amit Shah has reportedly told his party leaders to focus on Jammu and Ladakh in the next assembly elections to form a government on its own.
“You focus on 37 assembly seats of Jammu and 4 seats of Ladakh in the next assembly elections because if we win all these seats BJP can form next government in on its own,” Shah said.
Wani said that it is for the first time that a president of a political party is talking about exclusive regions of the sate without considering its inclusiveness.
“Being in coalition with PDP, he should have talked about coalition dharma and how to strengthen the coalition. He rather spoke he spoke about forming government alone, which is another snub to PDP. It is high time now for Mehbooba Mufti to resign; she is not being respected by the BJP, her alliance partner,” the NC leader said.
Congress, Chief Spokesman Ravinder Sharma said that BJP gives considers its polarizing and divisive politics above all the issues in the country.
“For BJP it is politics and party first, nation second,” Sharma told KNS.
“Such statements are not in national interest, harmony of the nation and integrity of the Jammu and Kashmir state. JK’s integrity is above parties and politics. BJP is trying to divide Jammu and Kashmir for being in government. They tried in 2014, and later PDP supported their divisive agenda for power,” Sharma said.
“Unfortunately, PDP is still sharing power with BJP when the latter is ditching them; it is compulsion of power that is keeping them together,” the Congress leader said.
“Where are coalition dharma and agenda of alliance? PDP should answer it,” he said.
The Congress leader said that people in Jammu and Ladakh won’t accept BJP as people are seeing what the party has done in JK for and across India beyond sloganeering. (KNS)
