Srinagar/April,28: The joint resistance leadership has called for shutdown on Sunday to protest the killing of an elderly man in firing by government forces yesterday.
A spokesman appealed for a complete shutdown on Sunday to protest the killing of Mohammad Yousuf, 60.
Yousuf died after forces opened fire on demonstrators demanding the bodies of two militants killed in Panzgam attack.
Meanwhile district administration Kupwara on Friday said that it has lodged an FIR against the killing of a civilian and has started investigation into the incident.
A civilian identified as Muhammad Yousuf Bhat was killed in Panzgam area of the district on Thursday during the protests following the killing of two militants in the area.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, G M Dar said that a case has been registered in the civilian killing. “Investigation has also been started into the killing,” he said.
The FIR has been registered in Karalpora Police Station under FIR number 25/2017, under section 307 RPC.
