Education Deptt team inspects schools in Akhnoor

Akhnoor/April,28: A team of officials of Education department Friday inspected various institutions in Akhnoor, Bhalwal, Khour, Devipur and Jourian and reviewed remedial teaching being imparted to potential learners.

The team led by Joint Director, Charandeep Singh, during  inspection the teachers were asked  to use modern teaching aides and monitor students’ performances periodically so that chances of improvements could be tapped.

The team also examined the records of Government High School, Devipur, Government Middle school Bhalwal, Government Higher Secondary School, Bhalwal, Government Higher Secondary School, Jourian  and Zonal Education Office, Bhalwal.

The teachers were asked to maintain mid-day meal records properly and also ensure that healthy and nutritious food is cooked for students who are real beneficiaries of this scheme. The scheme is aimed at encouraging student attendance in schools and reducing dropout rate and providing healthy meals to students.

Joint Director, Education Charandeep Singh also held meetings with ZEO Khour and ZEO Jourian and teaching faculty of different schools and students. He sought feedback in terms of infrastructure and other facilities needed in these institutions. Several teething issues that cropped up were discussed threadbare and way out found out to ensure smooth teaching, learning activities in these institutions.

Joint director also appreciated the endeavor of the faculty of Higher Secondary School, Bhalwal who contributed to pay the fee of their students belonging to poor families for seeking admission in colleges.

Earlier the visiting team of education department inspected toilet blocks, class rooms, kitchens, stores, staff rooms, laboratories, libraries and compounds at all educational institutions and issued on spot directions for maintaining them. The staff and students were also asked to keep the environment green and clean. They were advised that in addition to academics they must also contribute in society by maintaining cleanliness in and around institutions and discourage use of polythene besides not littering around the schools.
