Srinagar/April,27: The family members of 10th class student who was shot dead by Indo-Tibetan Border Police man at a point blank range outside Churmujroo Beerwah polling station here in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on 9 April Thursday alleged that instead of registering an FIR against the accused soldier, police have registered a case against protesters and have only showed in the FIR that the boy was not killed but only wounded.
Aqeel Ahmed Wani (16) was shot dead by an ITBP soldier at point blank range outside Churmujroo polling station number 113 and the incident that was captured by some polling staffers had gone viral, inviting condemnations and assurance from police chief that the matter will be probed and guilty will be punished.
The family members of the slain youth emerged in Press Enclave Srinagar along with the FIR copy and other documents alleging that police didn’t entertain their complaint that they tried to file against the accused soldier who killed their son for throwing a single stone at point blank range.
Muhammad Amin Wani, the father of slain youth who is a labourer said  that police station Beerwah has registered an FIR vide number 31/2017 under section 148,149, 332, 336, 307, 353, 393, 427 RPC against the protesters and no case has been filed against the accused soldier. “The FIR mentions that some miscreants pelted stones on polling station and to bring order, security forces fired some bullets in air, resulting in the injuries of a youth. The FIR is silent over the death of my son. When we tried to file a case against the accused soldier who is visible in video, firing at my son at point blank range, the police didn’t entertain our complaint,” Wani said and sought the intervention of Chief Mehbooba Mufti and DG Police Dr SP Vaid.
The family members said that they want matter to be probed and action to be initiated against the accused soldier.
Pertinently, the video clip that has gone viral shows a paramilitary person firing a bullet hitting the head of Aqeel.
When contacted Station House Officer Beerwah said that a formal FIR has been lodged into the killing incident and investigation has been going on. “There is no truth in it that we have refused to entertain their complaint. In fact, the complaint filed by the victim’s family has been attached with the FIR copy. Investigation has alreday been set into motion,” he said.
