Jammu/April,22: Emphasizing the need to provide best diagnostics to patients, Minister of State for Health & Medical Education, Asiea Naqash Saturday said Pathology Departments in state institutions need to be upgraded in the interest of patients.
The Minister was speaking as chief guest at Annual Conference of North West Chapter of IAPM ‘Pathcon-2017’organised by Post-Graduate Department of Pathology, Government Medical College, Jammu.
The Minister said pathology is backbone of any medical institution as diagnosis and disease monitoring for patients rely on pathological analysis, especially for cancer cases. She reiterated government’s commitment for providing all necessary help to upgrade and strengthen this department.
Asiea Naqash appreciated efforts of the department in organizing this event which provides opportunities for deliberations and has participation from eminent experts from varied fields. This year’s conference was focused on ‘Recent Advance in field of Histopathology, Hematology, Cytology and Clinical Pathology’.
The Minister said these scientific deliberations will not only help in better patient care but will also be fruitful to youngsters especially Post-Graduate training students.
She added that this academic gathering will provide doctors an opportunity to interact freely with experts and get updated information about the fast changing field of medicine where definitions and classifications are regularly modified, subject to latest advancements.
The event was attended by around 500 delegates from all over India, faculty members and large number of students of GMC Jammu.
Principal Dean GMC Jammu Prof Sunanda Raina, President IAPM Dr T K Vasishta, HoD Department of Pathology GMC Jammu K K Kaul, Director Principal ASCOMS Dr. Pawan Malhotra, Medical Superintends of various hospitals and various other officials of Health Department were also present for the event.
