Mumbai, Apr 20: The rupee fell today by 14 paise to 64.
71 against the US currency in early trade today on buying of US Dollars by bankers and IMporters, dealers at the Interbank Foreign Exchange said.
Forex dealers said appreciation in the dollar against its key rivals overseas put pressure on rupee.
However a higher opening in the domestic equity market capped the losses , they added.
Yesterday, the rupee had gained 3 paise to close at 64.
