Dy CM directs for early completion of Leh Transmission line

Jammu/ April, 17: The Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh Thursday directed the officers to ensure that the prestigious Leh transmission line is completed within the stipulated time frame as it forms an important parameter of improving the transmission and distribution of electricity in the region.
The Deputy Chief Minster Was interacting with a delegation of the Leh councilors led by the Minister for Co operatives, Tsering Dorjay, Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Dr Sonam Dawa who raised several important issues related to Leh region,
Commissioner/ Secretary Power Development Department, Dheeraj Gupta, Deputy Commissioner, Leh and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the government has undertaken several measures for ensuring that the power infra gets augmented in the hilly districts of the Ladakh region, so that the people living in these areas get the requisite amount of electric power. He said the process of implementation of these flag ship initiatives should be properly monitored and the local representatives of the areas should also be involved in the formulation and execution part of these.
Dr Singh said the government contemplates to undertake the electrification of the all un-electrified habitations of the region as early as possible. He said under DDUGJY all villages are to be given the facility of the electric power within the earliest possible time.
The Deputy Chief Minister also discussed the initiatives being taken under the Rural Development sector in Leh.
Commissioner/ Secretary Rural Development Department, Kifayat Hussain Rizvi and other officers were present in the meeting.
Dr Singh asked the officers of the RDD department to find out a viable solution by which the CD block be established at Rongi Himaya instead of Chumathang, so that the long pending demand of the people of the area is acceded to. He also called for speeding up the various flagship programs being undertaken in the Rural Development sector maintaining that these have the capacity to transform the rural landscape besides the socio –economic profile of people living in the area.
