Speaker Assembly urges for organizing regular cultural events for jail inmates

Jammu/ April, 17: District Jail Jammu, Amphalla Wednesday organized a colorful cultural program in its premises for the jail inmates.

Speaker, J&K Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta was the chief guest on the occasion and DGP Prisons S K Mishra was the guest of honor.

The inmates presented colorful and enthralling cultural program communicating cultural diversity of Jammu and Kashmir and social messages about various vices ailing the society.

The Speaker while addressing the gathering appreciated the enthusiasm and effort of inmates and jail authorities in organizing this wonderful performance. He urged the inmates to engage in various initiatives launched for their development and welfare so that they can be self reliant at the time of their release.

He asked them to make use of the educational training under adult literacy program and vocational training for skill development including training as electricians, plumbers, handloom craftsmen etc made available to them and develop necessary skills for their easy rehabilitation in the civil society.

The DGP Prisons talking about cultural arts training being provided to inmates said music, art and culture should be promoted in all the prisons and expressed hope that jail inmates after getting required training will evolve as excellent performers.

The program was conducted through Central Cultural Team of Armed Police, J&K was witnessed by CRPF officers, Jail Officers, Jawans and other officers and officials.

Prominent among others who attended the program were DIG Prisons Dr. M.S Lone, Superintendent C.J. Jammu Kotbhalwal Dinesh Sharma, DGP Prisons and Superintendent District Jail Jammu Javid Masood Fazili, Staff Officer to DGP, Prisons Saba Shawl, Medical Officer and Accounts Officer.
