Srinagar/ April, 17: All colleges across the Kashmir valley remained closed for the second day Wednesday, while the Kashmir University (KU) and Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) have decided to conduct all schedule examinations Wednesday.
However, class work in both the universities will remain suspended today as authorities fear trouble.
Meanwhile, near normal attendance was recorded in schools Wednesday. Majority schools remained closed yesterday for fear of trouble after massive protests were held in educational institutions on April 17 demanding action against security forces who entered Degree College at Pulwama and allegedly used force against students injuring move than 60 of them, including girls.
Fearing trouble the Divisional Administration had ordered closure of all colleges in the Kashmir valley for the second day Wednesday. However, District administration in Shopian and Ganderbal had also ordered closure of Higher Secondary Schools (HSS). Besides government has ordered closure of HSS at Banihal where students blocked Srinagar-Jammu national highway for about six hours against security force action on students in Degree College Pulwama on last Saturday. According to the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, teaching work in all Collages of Kashmir division shall remain suspended on April 20 and 21, 2017as a precautionary measure.
