Jammu/ April, 17: Various deputations of farmers Monday called upon Vice-Chairman J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Kisans Daljit Singh Chib and apprised him about various problems faced by them.
The deputations of farmers from District Kathua and District Jammu apprised Vice Chairman about the condition of Sari Muni Cannel in tehsil Billawar which, according the farmers, is the main source of irrigation, feeding a command area of 3616 Hectares at Tehsil Billawarhas. They said the canal has become non operational due to accumulation of silt thus reducing the water carrying capacity.
The deputation appealed government for making a comprehensive one-time plan for making the cannel functional to its full capacity and also appealed for installation of a full-fledged lift irrigation System in the canal.
VC Daljit Singh gave patient hearing to the deputations and assured them that their issues and grievances will be taken up with the concerned Minister for its redressal.
