H&ME Minister pays surprise visit to AH Vijaypur, PHC Bari Brahmana

Jammu/ April,15: Acting tough against absenteeism in health department, Minister for Health & Medical Education, Bali Bhagat Saturday ordered suspension of three doctors and two paramedics in Accidental Hospital (AH), Vijaypur and Primary Health Centre (PHC), Bari Brahmana in Samba district.

During his surprise visit to AH, Vijaypur, the Minister found two doctors namely, Dr Pawan Arora, Consultant Surgeon and Dr Harvinder Singh, Dental Assistant, and at PHC, Bari Brahmana, Dr Anjum Choudhary, Medical Officer, Ajeet Kumar, Pharmacist and Manoj Kumar, BHW unauthorized absent from duty, pending inquiry issued orders for their immediate suspension.

During the period of suspension, they will remain attached in the office of Chief Medical Officer, Samba

Giving clear message to the functionaries of the health & medical education, the Minister saidslackness on the part of medicos will not be tolerated in any case and everyone will be made accountable to his/her duties. He called upon the Director Health Services and Chief Medical officers to pay frequent surprise visits to the peripheral institutions to ensure punctuality of staff in the health institutions and ensure best possible services to the patients.

After inspection of various wards and units of AH,Vijaypur, the Minister directed the concerned to ensure proper cleanliness in and around the hospital by pressing into service more manpower. He said sanitation in the health institutions is the top most priority of the Government, for which the Sulabh International has been approached, and soon all the District hospitals and Sub-District Hospitals will be outsourced to ensure their proper upkeep. He saidsanitation always remained a challenging task for the authorities, but keeping in view the track record of the Sulabh International, the Government has decided to engage this agency on 24×7 basis to ensure cleanliness, he added.

In view of the heavy flow of patients, especially the accidental cases in the AH, Vijaypur, the Minister saidGovernment will explore possibilities for its expansion and up-gradation. He also saidoutlived infrastructure; equipment will be renovated/replaced to evolve efficiency in the functioning of this important institution. The Government has already provided one Critical Care Ambulance for immediate rescue of accidental cases on the National Highway from Lakhanpur to Jammu, said the Minister.

On the occasion, the Minister interacted with the doctors, para-medics, patients and their attendants and enquired about the difficulties and available facilities. He called upon the doctors and para-medics to work with extra zeal and dedication, be friendly with the patients and serving them with missionary spirit. He saidGovernment was committed to improve the working atmosphere in the health institutions for the staff as per their needs.
