Jammu/ April,14: Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta Friday visited the different areas of Raipur Satwari and took stock of issues faced by the people of these areas.
The Speaker said the government is committed to provide all basic amenities to the people and it is also important for the people to show interest in different state and central Govt schemes for maximizing the benefits at grassroots level.
The Speaker also said several developmental works are going on in different areas of Gandhi Nagar Constituency for betterment of basic facilities in the area.
During his visit, the Speaker also started the work of irrigation channel on drain for widening of the road in Lahori Mohalla, Raipur Satwari at a cost of Rs 2.50 lakh by Irrigation Department Division-I.
The Speaker asked the executing agencies to stick to deadline in the execution of the project and ensure the usage of quality material.
On the occasion, the Speaker also convened a public meeting of the people of the area in which the locals put up their demands and problems before the Speaker including setting up new electric poles and wires, repairing and construction of lanes and drains in the area, uninterrupted power supply and availability of ration.
A number of delegations enroute to the venue also met Speaker and projected their demands and developmental issues to the Speaker including clean drinking water, constructions of bathrooms under centrally sponsored schemes like Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Widow and Old age Pension related issues etc.
The Speaker gave patient hearing to the people of the area and assured them that their genuine demands would be addressed as early as possible in a phased manner. He said they should come forward to take maximum benefits from the state and centrally sponsored schemes.
AEE, PHE & Irrigation, Omesh Gupta and JE, Kuljeet Singh besides other senior officers of concerned departments also accompanied the Speaker during his visit.
