Jammu/April,8:  In response to representation of people from Bathindi, Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta Saturday took stock of various issues being faced by residents of the area.

The Speaker was apprised that Bathindi being a fairly new settlement which has grown exponentially in last decade, needs many basic infrastructural supplements to meet its growing demands.

Among others, priority demands put forth by people were the need to strengthen flood drains in the area including their timely repairs, renovation and upgradation, increasing drinking water supply to the locality in proportion to its population, and upgradation of public health – veterinary health infrastructure.

Kavinder Gupta addressing the gathering assured them that all their concerns will be taken up and resolved at the earliest. He said a project will be devised soon to address the concerns regarding seasonal flooding by reinforcing storm drain network in the area. He further said works for renovation of 1.5 km flood drain will be taken up on priority.

With regards to the drinking water supply in the area, the Speaker assured that he will take up the demand through appropriate channels and work out modalities to increase water supply in the area.

Speaker assuring people of government’s commitment towards development said dedicated manpower is continuously working to evaluate short comings in public infrastructure and simultaneously devising strategies to reinforce it for socio-economic development.

He said in the last two years multiple development works have already been taken up in the area including works for construction of 5 km Sunjwan to Chatta road being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 3.72 crore under PMGSY.

He further said projects for reconstruction and upgradation of Doongia to Panj Peer road and Bermini road have been prepared and will soon be taken up under NABARD.

Speaker also urged the public to be forthcoming with their concerns, issues and communicate the same to government so that an all inclusive equitable development can be ensured, that is transparent and accountable.
