Srinagar/April,8:  Terming Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a party based on principles, Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti Saturday said her Party’s agenda has always dictated the Party leadership for taking any course of action.
She said it was this agenda of the Party which formed the basis of framework for joining power in 2002 and 2015.
Addressing the Party workers of Anantnag and Homshalibugh constituencies here Saturday, Ms Mehbooba asked the workers to look at the Party’s Basic declaration and compare it with the points of Common Minimum Programme (CMP) of 2002 and Agenda of Alliance (AoA) of 2015.
Seeking vote for her brother Mufti Tassaduq, contesting Anantnag seat, She said it was the Basic Declaration of the Party which got incorporated into these alliance agreements after which the PDP joined power at both these times.
The PDP President said it was this factor which makes her Party different from other political parties.
“As a contrast whenever coalition Governments were formed in the State by some other political parties, no terms of reference were set and no written agreements were made before joining the Government”, she said while quoting the examples of Rajiv-Farooq Accord of 1986, Omar-Rahul Accord of 2008 and NC joining BJP at the Centre in 1999. “Least of all, no formal discussions were held”, she told the workers.
Ms Mehbooba praised the workers for remaining steadfast with the Party leadership in its propagation and implementation of the Party’s agenda.
She said she is proud that her workers kept her Party’s agenda going with persistence which in the immediate past led the leaderships of both the countries to join hands for friendship and leave acrimony.
“This time also we have come with an agenda of peace, reconciliation and development in the State. And we are confident that we will be able to get it implemented for the larger interests of the people of Jammu & Kashmir and rest of the country”, the PDP President said while asking the workers to take ahead this agenda purposefully and with dedication.
The Chief Minister said dialogue and development has been the cornerstone of Party’s agenda which it would pursue without any deviation or departure. “Because, we have seen, it is only with dialogue and discourse, coupled with good governance, that we can heal the wounds of the State”, she observed.
In his address to the workers, Chief Spokesperson of the Party, Dr Mehboob Baig appealed people to reject the forces that have been befooling them for long time now.
He said how the Congress and National Conference could claim to do anything for people in case their candidates get elected when they did nothing during their six year long rule in the State.
