Srinagar, Apr 9 : Internet service of all cellular companies, including Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) Broadband, was snapped in the Kashmir valley, where polling in Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency was marred by sporadic violence.
However, the suspension of the service had badly hit the operation of local media houses and the reporting teams working for National and International media organizations.
Authorities ordered suspension of internet service of all companies since mid-night last in the valley to prevent spread of rumours on social media. The broadband subscribers too were affected due to suspension of the internet.
While the mobile internet services for post-paid connections were restored on November 19 last year after disconnections about five months, the mobile internet services for prepaid connections were restored in Kashmir on January 27, after six months.
