Jammu/April,8: Governor N.N. Vohra inaugurated 3rd International Art Exhibition organized by the Jammu & Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts (JKCCA) at the Kala Kendra here Saturday.
Governor went round the exhibition and evinced keen interest in the paintings done by artists from Bangladesh, Turkey, USA, Russia and from various parts of India.
Complimenting the JKCCA for organizing an International Art Exhibition, the Governor pointed to the high value of making such events a regular feature. He said J&K is full of artistic talent and such events give them opportunity to showcase their creativity and provide the opportunity to the people of J&K to view fine works of art.
Governor also pointed to the need of widely publicising these events so that much larger numbers could appreciate such art exhibitions. He also suggested instituting attractive awards for the artists in recognition of their talent.
Governor advised the Kala Kendra to buy some of the paintings exhibited during exhibitions organized here so that they could be put permanently exhibited in the galleries of the Kendra. He also suggested enhancing the facilities at the Kala Kendra so that besides promotion of art and culture, exhibitions of a larger scale could be conveniently organized here.
Priya Sethi, Minister of State for Culture was present on the occasion.
O.P. Sharma, Director, JKCCA, Soujanya Sharma, Administrator Kala Kendra, Mohd. Yousuf Taing, former Director General Culture were among many distinguished guests present on the occasion.
