Srinagar/April,7: Urging people to remain vigilant against nefarious designs of disruptive elements, Peoples Democratic Party Friday said that the National Conference has always thrived on unrest and boycott politics in Jammu and Kashmir.
“This party has always survived on bloodshed and disruptions. It supported the hartal and election boycott policies for its own political survival at the cost of peoples’ interests”, the party leaders said.
This was stated by PDP District President and MLC Khursheed Alam, MP Fayaz Mir, MLA Yawar Dillawar Mir and MLC Firdous Tak while addressing an election meeting in Khanyar assembly segment here.
The legislators said that the NC and its leadership created fear psychosis among the masses across the state in order to remain in power. “Formation of PDP in 1999 was aimed at creating an atmosphere of peace and trust and restoring faith of people on democratic setup”, they said.
“By giving mandate to PDP in 2002 people reposed their faith in the institution of dialogue and reconciliation and created a genuine and credible political alternative in the state”, they said adding that the party proved itself by fulfilling the promise it made to the people and restoring peace with dignity.
Terming Congress-NC as an “opportst alliance”, they said that people’s faith in democracy and government institutions was restored by Peoples Democratic Party in Jammu and Kashmir.
“PDP is the most credible political voice in the state. The party represents not only the aspirations and hope of people but also symbolizes accountability, transparency and able governance”, the legislators said.
Reiterating the party`s commitment to strive for the development of the state they said that people have only faced miseries whenever National Conference –Congress allied.
“National Conference and especially Dr Farooq Abdullah and his son Omar Abdullah have represented Srinagar parliamentary constituency and also served as on minister after being elected from this segment. Let them inform the people what have they actually contributed”, they said.
Underlining that the only leadership worth trusting is that of PDP, which has a proven track record of delivery on justice and socio-economic upliftment, the legislators said that NC and Congress was now trying to create a scare among the public with intend to get political mileage.
