Srinagar/April,7: Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who continued to remain under house arrest for fifth straight week, addressed the Friday congregation at Jamia Masjid through telephone, said a spokesman.
Mirwaiz addressed the Friday congregation at Jamia Masjid through telephone and asserted that suppression detention tyranny, and torture of the people and leadership cannot stifle their voice calling for the freedom of Kashmir.
Reiterating the call for election boycott, Mirwaiz appealed to people to desist from participating in “this mockery of a democratic exercise, in a dictatorial set up.”
“The state in its paranoia and insecurity of people’s support to the struggle has curbed the movement of the resistance leadership by placing them under house arrest or lodging them in jails besides conducting large scale crackdown against youth across Kashmir in a bid to conduct the facade of elections,” he said.
Mirwaiz said that as per the joint resistance programme people should observe a protest strike from the evening of April 8 till the evening of April 09 to show complete resolve and commitment with the freedom struggle.
