Srinagar/April,7: District Election Officer Srinagar, Dr. Farooq Ahmed Lone, Friday chaired a meeting to take final review of arrangements for the forthcoming bye-elections to Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency.
ADC, JD Information, AROs, RTO, Chief Education Officer, Nodal officers of EVM, MCC, Expenditure, Election, and Grievance cell and officials from Police, Traffic and R&B Departments attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed water-logging issues at various distribution cum collection centres and polling locations due to the prevailing inclement weather conditions. The DEO directed the concerned to ensure water-logging issues are addressed so that people don’t face any inconvenience on the polling day.
Regarding the security arrangements, it was given out that security personnel in adequate strength will be deployed at all polling stations by tomorrow morning for smooth and hassle free election process.
The meeting also discussed transportation and traffic management plans.
Meanwhile, the DEO instructed all Booth Level Officers (BLOs) of District Srinagar to facilitate the Basic Minimum Lodging Facilities at their respective Polling Stations/Locations for night stay of polling staff on the intervening night April 8 and 9.
He said that BLOs must coordinate the facilitation by Heads of the concerned institutions w herein polling booths are located with respective Assistant Returning Officers and polling staff till election process is over.
