Srinagar, Apr 06: Flood like situation triggered by incessant rains has caused heavy damages to residential houses, public buildings including Schools and mosques and standing crops in several parts of north Kashmir.
According to KNS correspondents, the outer wall of Jamia Masjd Delina was collapsed and several schools in almost half a dozen villages in Langate area of Kupwara district have been damaged. While the standing crops have damaged fully the trees and orchards have also been uprooted at various places in both Baramulla and Kupwara District.
In Srinagar the summer capital the city centre areas including Lal Chowk, Sarai Bala, Jehangir chowk the water is flowing over the roads and traffic moment has come to a grinding halt.
In Jhelum the water level is flowing nearer to the danger mark and more so in Ram Munshi Bagh area in the outskirts of Srinagar. The flood like situation has gripped panic among people across Kashmir.
A top police official told KNS that in emergency like situation has arisen due to the incessant rains across Kashmir.
Meanwhile, Director Meteorological department Sonam Lotus told KNS that weather is likely to improve from tomorrow and there will be marked decline in the intensity of rains today. (KNS)
