Srinagar/April, 4: The upper reaches in the Kashmir valley, including border areas in north Kashmir, received fresh snowfall while plains were lashed by rain since early this morning.
However, at world famous ski resort of Gulmarg there was snow and rain while it was only rain at Pahalgam, a health resort in south Kashmir since this morning.
The border town of Gurez, surrounded by Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) from three sides received about four to five inches of fresh snowfall since this morning. Neeru and other areas near LoC in Gurez, which remained cut from district headquarter Bandipora for the past four months also recorded fresh snowfall. The Razdan pass, connecting Gurez with Bandipora also received about five inches of snow since this morning.
The other heights in the north Kashmir, including Tulail also received fresh snowfall.
Fresh snowfall was also experienced at several places on historic Mughal road, which remained closed since January this year. The authorities have already pressed into service sophisticated machines to put through the road, connecting Shopian in south Kashmir with Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu region.
Reports received said that fresh snowfall was also experienced at Holy Amarnath cave shrine and its periphery besides at Shehnag, Mahaguns and Pisso top on traditional route. However, at Pahalgam and Betab valley received rain since this morning.
