Srinagar/April, 4: Foral tributes were Tuesday paid to Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan who was martyred in a militant ambush on a CRPF convoy at Pantha Chowk on Srinagar-Jammu national highway yesterday in which five other personnel and a minor girls were injured.
To pay homage, a wreath laying ceremony was held at STC Humhama in Srinagar Tuesday.
Senior CRPF and police officers paid tributes to Basappa Bajantri, a resident of Karnataka.
His mortal remains will be sent to his native village via Delhi.
Bajantri and five other CRPF personnel were injured when militants of Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) attacked their bus on way to Srinagar from Jammu at Pantha Chowk. The injured were rushed to Army hospital where Bajantri succumbed while the condition of two others is stated to be critical.
