Srinagar/April, 3: Strike continued in parts of the central Kashmir district of Badgam while clashes took place between demonstrators and security forces in a Shopian after arrest of a student, who was later released.
A complete shut down was observed in Chadoora, Wahthora and Naugam in the central Kashmir district of Badgam, where people are protesting against the death of three youths in security force firing on March 28, when a militant was killed in an encounter.
Shops and business establishments remained closed and traffic was also off the roads. Traffic on the Srinagar-Charar-e-Sharief was also affected and vehicles were diverted through other routes.
Work in government offices and banks was also affected while educational institutions remained closed.
People hit the streets at Imam Sahib in south Kashmir district of Pulwama after a student was arrested by security forces for his alleged involvement in stone pelting.
Security forces resorted to lathicharge to disperse the demonstrators. However, later normalcy restored after student was released from the detention.
