Jammu/April, 3: IGP Jammu, Dr. S.D Singh Jamwal Monday inaugurated T-20 Cricket Tournament at Bana Singh Stadium, R.S Pura. The tournament was organized by Jammu and Kashmir Police under Civic Action Program (CAP).
DIG Jammu-Kathua Range, Ashkoor Ahmed Wani, SSP Jammu Dr. Vinod Kumar, CO 4th Dogra Col. Mahesh Sharma, SP Hqrs Jammu Romesh Kotwal, SP Rural Jammu Arun Gupta, SDPO R.S Pura Surinder Choudhary and huge gathering of the area were present on the occasion.
The objective of organizing this match was to explore the hidden talent of youth and to keep them away from drug abuse and other social evils.
The opening match was played between Diamond Cricket Club Simbal Camp and Lions Cricket Club Chohala. Diamond cricket club lost the toss and scored 175 for 09 wickets by batting first. Lions Cricket Club Chohala scored 169 for 07 wickets in allotted 20 overs quota. The Diamond Cricket Club Simbal won the match by 06 runs. Gurvinder Singh was declared as man of the match and boosted with a medal. Sports uniform and full cricket kit were presented to the participating teams in presence of dignitaries.
The match was witnessed by huge gathering from all walks of life and lauded the role of J&K Police and appreciated for organizing such activity under Civic Action Program.
