Over 24 shops, a bank branch, other property destroyed in north Kashmir fire

Srinagar, Apr 4: Over 24 shops, a bank branch and other property had been destroyed in a devastating fire in the frontier district of Kupwara during the night intervening, official sources said.
They said fire broke out in the at Awoora in Kupwara market during the night intervening April 3 and 4. However, before the fire tenders could control the leaping flames, fire spread to entire market.
They said over 24 shops in two shopping complexes were completely destroyed while several others also suffered some damage.
A bank branch of Jammu and Kashmir Bank was also partially damaged in the fire. Besides four residential houses were also gutted.
Fire tenders rushed from different areas were rushed there to control the fire.
The cause of fire was not immediately known, they said adding no one was injured.
