IISC tops NIRF ranking, IIT Madras, IIT Bombay placed 2nd, 3rd

New Delhi: Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore has topped the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings for higher educational institutions in India, followed by IIT Madras and IIT Bombay.
The Indian Ranking 2017 was released by Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Prakash Javadekar here today.
It was followed by Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, which was placed second and Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, third, Mr Javadekar announced.
Moreover, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) which was embroiled in controversy has been ranked sixth in the overall ranking, BHU has been ranked 10 while AMU 19, Jamia Millia Islamia in 20 and Delhi University has been ranked 15.
Announcing the rankings, Mr Javadekar said the NIRF rankings would be used as a means to improve the educational institutions and was a competition for excellence and improving quality education.
