The rally was flagged off by District Election Officer (DEO), who is also Returning Officer, 5- Jammu Parliamentary Constituency, Sachin Kumar Vaishey, and SSP Jammu, Vinod Kumar,.
The Faculty members, along with hundreds of students of college participated in the rally, which began from College and culminated at PanjtirthiChowk.
The students of the College raised Electoral Literacy related slogans like “ChabbeekiKutheyJanaaei, Vote Pan Janaaei”, ”Jan Jan ne Thana Hai Vote Deney Jana Hai”, ”GaonGaonGaliGaliChunavkiLaherChali”.
The objective of the awareness rally was to encourage general public to vote in upcomingLokSabha Elections in large numbers, motivate the young voters to participate in the electoral process without any hesitation and ensure maximum voter turnout to help in strengthening the core values of Indian democracy.
Later, the DEO addressed the gathering of students and staff from the departments within the College premises, in which he deliberated on the importance of every single vote.
Popular Punjabi Singer SangramHanjra gave a splendid performance.
Later, the NatrangTheater Group under the leadership of Balwant Thakur performed a play titled LokTantraKaAsli Mantra. The audience were mesmerized by the live performance of the artist. The play was successful in conveying the message of importance of the right to vote.
The volunteers of the Electoral Literacy Club, NSS and NCC unit of the college showed great enthusiasm and shared important information like toll free numbers, My Gov app etc, with the first-time voters and other students of the College.

The main function of the concluding day of Fire Service Week was held at Fire & Emergency Services Headquarters Gandhi Nagar here, which was presided over by Director (ADGP), Fire & Emergency Services J&K, Alok Kumar.
Addressing the gathering, the Director appreciated the officers and jawans for conducting the week long activities in a befitting manner. He stressed upon all the officers and jawans to continue the awareness programmes throughout the year to create ‘Har Ghar Fire Fighter’ to minimize the losses during fires. The Director also appreciated the role of Medical Officers of department as well as doctors from various medical specialities in conducting free medical camps besides first aid training to jawans.
On the occasion, an Essay and drawing competitions were held in which 29 students from eight different schools of Jammu participated. The theme of the competition was “Ensure Fire Safety- Contribute towards Nation Building”.
Samradhi, a 6th class student of Mahavir Jain School, Rani Park Jammu secured 1st position and was awarded cash prize of Rs. 1500/- and a trophy. 2nd prize of Rs. 1200/- was bagged by Vanshika Thakur, 7th class student of Oriental Higher Secondary School Kachi Chawni while as 3rd position with cash prize of Rs. 1000/- was secured by Suhani, a 9th class student of Bal Bharti Public High School Channi Himmat.
The Director distributed cash and awards among the winners and participants. He also awarded trophies and certificates to winning as well as runner up teams of Volley Ball, Tug of War, Ladder drill and Fire Tender drill.
A cultural program was also held at F&E headquarters Gandhi Nagar, here.
The officers and officials of various Commands on the pledged to continue the awareness programmes as per the guidelines and directions.
Deputy Director, Medical officer, Accounts officer, Assistant Director and other officers besides office staff and jawans were also present on the occasion.

Justice Tashi Rabstan, Judge, High Court of J&K and Ladakh, who is also Administrative Judge for district Jammu and Executive Chairman, J&K Legal Services Authority, was the chief guest on the occasion. It may be recalled that the J&K Legal Services Authority on the directions of Chief Justice, N. Kotiswar Singh, organised similar programmes in the recent past for the jail staff and inmates of Central Jail Kot Bhawal and District Jail Ambphalla Jammu to ensure overall physical and mental wellbeing of prisoners and those who are guarding them.
Justice Tashi Rabstan, in his address, applauded the efforts of J&K Legal Services Authority in organizing this innovative awareness programmes. He underlined the significance of embracing a healthy lifestyle, not only to boost work efficiency but also to manage stress, prevalent in today’s society due to various factors like environmental pollution, adulterated and unhygienic food besides lifestyle diseases. He urged upon all the participants to prioritize their own health and the health of their family members, as this would significantly reduce stress levels. He highlighted that maintaining a good health and a stress-free state is essential for delivering peak performance in one’s professional life. He emphasized that the techniques demonstrated on Thursday by the distinguished Resource Person, if incorporated into one’s daily routine, have the potential to lead to a healthier and more serene existence.
In an engaging and informative Audio-Visual presentation, Dr. T. R. Raina, Former Professor and Head of the Department of Blood Transfusion Medicine, as well as Programme Director at the Advanced Yoga Center, Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, GMC Jammu, provided an in-depth analysis of the prevalent stress-related challenges faced by individuals in today’s fast-paced world. His discourse delved into the innumerable ways in which stress manifests within the human body and psyche, and the consequential impact it has on one’s personal and professional life.
Dr. Raina, leveraging his extensive experience and knowledge in both medical science and yogic practices, elucidated the profound benefits of integrating yoga into daily routines as a holistic approach to combat stress. He expounded on specific yogic techniques that can be adopted by individuals of all ages and professions to foster mental clarity, emotional stability, and physical well-being.
Furthermore, Dr. Raina highlighted the often-overlooked aspect of dietary influences on mental health, drawing attention to the detrimental effects of consuming impure and adulterated food. He emphasized the significance of maintaining a diet rich in natural and unprocessed foods to support a healthy mind and body, thereby reducing stress levels.

“As a significant step towards strengthening public healthcare scenario in Jammu, two seats have been sanctioned by National Board of Examinations in Medical Science (NBEMS) under DNB to Gandhi Nagar Hospital Jammu in the speciality of Family Medicine,” an official said.
The announcement came after a thorough inspection by the authorities of the National Board of Examinations in Medical Science (NBEMS), culminating in the sanctioning of the DNB seats to Gandhi Nagar Hospital. A formal letter confirming the allocation was issued by the NBE authorities on Saturday.
The official said the introduction of the DNB course in Family Medicine will enhance the hospital’s capacity to provide comprehensive healthcare services to the community.
Gandhi Nagar Hospital already offers PG (DNB) three-year degree courses in Internal Medicine and Anaesthesia core specialities, along with two-year diplomas (DNB) in Gynaecology & Obstetrics and Ophthalmology.
“This achievement is the result of persistent efforts, with two seats in DNB (Family Medicine) sanctioned following a successful inspection by the Visiting Inspection Team from NBEMS in September 2023,” he said.
According to officials, increasing the hospital’s bed capacity to 200 beds would further amplify its potential, making it eligible to apply for additional PG three-year degree courses in various specialities such as surgery, paediatrics, orthopaedics, and radiology. This expansion would position Gandhi Nagar Hospital as a sought-after destination for DNB residents from across India, they said.

The five establishments across Kachchi Chhawni, Bahu Plaza, and Kunjwani were sealed, with each shopkeeper fined Rs 75,000, totaling Rs 3.75 lakh in penalties.
Led by ADC Jammu Ansuya Jamwal, a joint team comprising the Legal Metrology Department, Labor Department, and Education Department conducted raids in the Kachchi Cantonment and Pakka Danga areas. Several shops were inspected, including Sahitya Sangam in Bahu Plaza, which was found operating without a license and selling bundles of books from prominent schools in the city.
The bundles, curated for various classes, lacked books approved by the NCERT or Education Department. Consequently, the shop was sealed for operating without the necessary license.
Similarly, U Mart in Kachchi Cantonment, selling uniforms without price lists, was also sealed, along with another shop named Vidyarthi, where the uniforms were inadequately packaged. A shop in Kunjwani faced similar consequences.
ADC Jammu stated that according to shopkeepers, the book bundles were compiled based on information from the schools’ websites. If confirmed, action will be taken against the implicated schools as well.
Reports inform that DC Jammu had received numerous complaints regarding the sale of books at exorbitant prices, prompting the joint team’s intervention. Two shops in Kachchi Cantonment were found selling uniforms without price lists, while the Bahu Plaza outlet operated without a license. As per regulations, the sealed shops were fined Rs 75,000 each

Dr Andrabi was accompanied by Waqf Board officers and the representatives of many departments.
According to a statement issued here, on this occasion Dr Andrabi instructed the concerned officers to ensure fool proof arrangements for upcoming Juma-tul-Vida, Shab-e-Qadr and Eid-al- Fitr congregations at these places and other places in the region. Dr Andrabi said that Waqf Board has taken all steps to assure requisite facilities to all the devotees participating in special festival congregations.
“We are committed to provide all facilities to the people and the Board is working in coordination with other departments so that all arrangements are in place”, said Dr Darakhshan.
She also said that the people of the J&K have cooperated with the Board during the past two years and it has resulted in the re-establishment of the relationship of trust again and as a result of that Waqf Board had been able to excell in all works related to the Board’s progress and development.
