Birdi, chaired a security review meeting to assess preparedness and strengthen security arrangements for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY-2026), Muharram observances, and Mela Kheer Bhawani at PCR Kashmir.</p>
<p>The meeting was attended by the senior officers of J&amp;K Police, CRPF, ITBP, Intelligence Agencies, BSF, SSB, Traffic, Railways, Telecommunication, and other agencies. Among those present were the IG BSF Ftr Hqrs Kashmir, IG CRPF KOS, IG CRPF Srinagar, IG ITBP, Addl Commissioner SB Srinagar, DIG IR Kashmir, all range DIsG of Kashmir Zone, DIsG of SSB Srinagar, Traffic Kashmir, Armed Kashmir, Railways J&amp;K, ITBP, CRPF South Srinagar, SSP PCR Kashmir, all district SSsP/PDs of Kashmir Zone, SSsP of Railways Kashmir, Traffic Rural Kasmir, security Kashmir, APCR Kashmir, CID CIK, Telecom Kashmir, Asst Director SIB Srinagar, GSO1 (IS) HQ 15 Corps, SP Cargo Srinagar and other senior officers.</p>
<p>During the meeting, participating officers briefed the chair on the deployment strategies, route security, intelligence coordination, traffic regulation, communication preparedness, emergency response mechanisms and logistical arrangements put in place for the smooth and peaceful conduct of the upcoming events.</p>
<p>Reviewing the arrangements, IGP Kashmir stressed the need for enhanced inter-agency coordination, uninterrupted communication channels and a unified operational approach to ensure a safe and secure environment during the forthcoming events.</p>
<p>Reviewing the security arrangements and preparedness for SANJY-2026, IGP Kashmir  V.K. Birdi directed the officers to ensure strict adherence to established SOPs and to undertake preventive measures. V.K. Birdi underscored the importance of maintaining high level of alertness and readiness, particularly at vulnerable locations and along designated pilgrimage routes. IGP Kashmir also reviewed contingency planning, disaster response preparedness, crowd management mechanisms and coordination protocols to ensure swift and effective handling of any unforeseen situation.</p>
<p>While reviewing arrangements for Muharram, IGP Kashmir emphasized the importance of ensuring the peaceful and smooth conduct of all religious processions and gatherings across the Valley. He directed officers to make comprehensive security and traffic arrangements along designated procession routes, establish effective crowd management mechanisms, and maintain close liaison with organizers and community representatives.</p>
<p>Reviewing preparations for Mela Kheer Bhawani, IGP Kashmir directed officers to put in place robust security and facilitation measures for devotees expected to participate in the annual religious event. He emphasized the need for thorough sanitization of the shrine premises, adequate deployment of security personnel, and proper traffic management plans. Shri V.K Birdi further stressed that all necessary measures should be taken to provide a safe, secure, and hassle-free experience to the devotees visiting the shrine.</p>
<p>Concluding the meeting, IGP Kashmir expressed confidence in the collective preparedness of all participating agencies and reiterated the commitment of the security establishment to ensure peaceful, secure and successful conduct of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026, Muharram and Mela Kheer Bhawani.</p>

Similarly, shutdown of 33 KV Awantipora Tral-II line will be observed due to which power supply to Batagund, Lurgam, Wagad/ Satoora, Pastona, Nanar, Taki, Lam, Jawaharpora, Aripal, Khangund, Satura, Nargistan and adjoining areas will be affected from 09 AM to 02 PM on 13,15, 17 &amp; 20 June 2026.<br />
Likewise, shutdown of 33 KV Lassipora SIDCO line and will be observed due to which power supply to 33 KV Lassipora-Keegam line will be observed due to which power supply to IGC Lassipora, Murran, Ruhmoo, Pakherpora, Mitrigam, Mirgund, Hawl, Keegam, PHC Hotline CHC Rajpora, Rajpora, Gulshanabad, Akhaal, Chararipora, Hotline, Pakherpora, Kamrazripora and adjoining areas will be affected from 09 AM to 02 PM on 14 June 2026.<br />
Similarly, shutdown of 132/33 KV Grid Substation Arampora Kupwara will be observed on 13 June 2026 from 10 to 11:30 PM and 14 June 2026 from 04 PM to 5:30 PM due to which power supply to Jaggerpora, MES Zangli, Tikker, Galizoo, Dragmulla, Nutnussa, Chogal, Army Camp, DC Residence, Pukhrupeth, Handwara Town, Adoora, Zachaldara, Changimulla, Khmuriyal, Lassipora Sogam, Divar, Lolab, Krusen, Z-Gali, Machil and adjoining areas will be affected.<br />

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Pulwama, June 12: Continuing its sustained crackdown against drug trafficking and its financial networks, Police in Pulwama has attached a single-storey residential house worth ₹15.85 lakh belonging to a drug peddler involved in an NDPS case.</p>
<p>The attached property belongs to Shabir Ahmad Khan son of Ghulam Qadir Khan resident of Karnabal Samboora, Kakapora. During the course of investigation, the property was found to be an illegally acquired asset, raised through proceeds of illicit narcotic trafficking and disproportionate to the known sources of income of the accused.</p>
<p>The action has been taken under the provisions of Sections 68-E and 68-F of the NDPS Act, 1985 in connection with FIR No. 38/2024 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act of Police Station Kakapora. The attachment forms part of the ongoing efforts of Pulwama Police to target assets created through the proceeds of drug trafficking and dismantle the financial infrastructure sustaining the narcotics trade.</p>
<p>J&amp;K Police remains committed to taking stringent action against drug peddlers and other elements involved in narcotics-related activities. Such measures are aimed at not only bringing offenders to justice but also depriving them of the illegal gains generated through drug trafficking.</p>

<p style="font-weight: 400;">GANDERBAL, JUNE 11: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore, today chaired a meeting of the District Level Implementation Committee (DLIC) to review the progress of Mission YUVA and approve loan applications received under the scheme.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">At the outset, the Additional District Development Commissioner briefed about the engagement of external trainers and presented the status of cases sanctioned and disbursed under Mission YUVA in the district so far.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">Reviewing the progress of the scheme, the DC directed concerned officers to expedite the verification of applications and ensure smooth implementation of Mission YUVA at the grassroots level. He stressed the need to increase the number of external trainers to strengthen capacity-building programmes and provide adequate handholding support to selected beneficiaries.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">The DC also instructed the Lead District Manager to improve the pace of sanctioning and disbursement of cases, assigning targets of processing number of cases daily, so that aspiring entrepreneurs can establish their ventures without unnecessary delay.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">To strengthen monitoring and outreach, the DC directed the Assistant Director Employment to undertake regular inspection of units established under Mission YUVA for effective output tracking. He also emphasized the need to intensify awareness activities under Udyam Jagriti 5.0 in colleges and higher secondary schools across the district to encourage youth participation in self-employment and entrepreneurship initiatives.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">The committee subsequently reviewed the applications received under Mission YUVA in detail, assessing their eligibility, viability and employment-generation potential.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">During the meeting, emphasis was laid on ensuring transparency, timely processing of applications and extending support to deserving youth with innovative and sustainable business ideas.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">The DC highlighted the importance of close coordination among line departments and financial institutions for effective implementation of the scheme.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">After detailed scrutiny, the committee approved 163 cases, paving the way for financial and institutional support to the beneficiaries under Mission YUVA. The DC directed concerned officers to complete all remaining formalities at the earliest to facilitate prompt disbursement and timely establishment of the approved ventures.</p>

<p>The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner , Mir Imtiyaz Ul Aziz, Chief Planning Officer, Fayaz Ahmad Dar, Assistant Commissioner Development, Tariq Ahmad, Executive Engineer REW, SDM East, Zuber Ahmad, Tehsildars of Panthachowk, Tehsildar Central Shalteng, Tehsildar Chanapora and other senior officers of Rural Development Department.</p>
<p>During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner took a detailed review of the status of land identification, feasibility assessments, administrative approvals and other preparatory works required for execution of physical works for the development of playfields in all Panchayats across the District.</p>
<p>On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner was given a Block-wise updates regarding the identification of suitable land and the progress achieved so far under the initiative. He was informed that out of 21 Panchayats across the four blocks of Harwan, Qamarwari, Srinagar and Khonmoh, playfields have already been developed in 10 Panchayats. The remaining Panchayats are at different stages of land identification, feasibility assessment, and approval processes.</p>
<p>The DC directed the concerned Officers to expedite the identification of suitable land in the remaining Panchayats and ensure that all feasibility reports, technical clearances and administrative approvals are completed at the earliest. He stressed the need for close coordination among all stakeholders to achieve the objective of developing at least one playfield in every Panchayat within the prescribed timelines.</p>
<p>Emphasizing the importance of creating quality sports infrastructure at the grassroots level, the DC said that the initiative would provide recreational facilities to local youth and promote sporting activities in rural areas. He also underscored the need for regular monitoring of progress and timely resolution of issues to ensure successful implementation of the project.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>New Delhi, June 11: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and discussed several key issues concerning Jammu &amp; Kashmir, including the early restoration of statehood, the economic situation and the pace of developmental activities in the Union Territory.</p>
<p>During the meeting, the Chief Minister emphasized the need for continued support from the Government of India to accelerate economic growth and ensure holistic development across Jammu &amp; Kashmir.</p>
<p>He highlighted the importance of strengthening connectivity, generating employment opportunities, expanding infrastructure and enhancing public welfare measures for the people of the region.</p>
<p>CM Omar Abdullah also discussed the state of the economy and reviewed various developmental initiatives aimed at improving public services and boosting growth.</p>
<p>The Chief Minister further congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on completing 12 uninterrupted years in office and acknowledged his contribution to the country&#8217;s development and governance.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Continuing its sustained efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, J&amp;K Police in Shopian achieved a major success by unearthing an underground drug hideout and recovering a huge quantity of contraband substance during a special operation at Pashpora Keegam.</p>
<p>A Police spokesperson said that acting on specific information that Mohd Iqbal Bhat son of Mohd Jabbar Bhat resident of Pashpora Keegam, had concealed narcotics in an underground hideout in his Apple orchards. Acting swiftly, a police party from Police Post Keegam conducted a raid at the specified location.</p>
<p>During search operation, 28.968 kilograms of Crushed cannabis was recovered and accused person was arrested. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 112/2026 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Shopian. Further investigation is underway to establish forward and backward linkages and to identify other individuals involved in the illegal drug trade.</p>
<p>Police reiterates its firm commitment to maintaining a drug-free society and urges the general public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by sharing information regarding drug peddling or substance abuse in their localities. Citizens can report such activities to the nearest police station, and the identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.</p>
