New Delhi|Sept, 10: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that India supports a safe, secure, peaceful and sustainable space domain anchored in international law, dialogue and multilateral cooperation. He said India’s approach is rooted in Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, that is One Earth, One Family, One Future, and this spirit must now travel beyond Earth.
The Prime Minister was virtually addressing the International Space Summit in Paris today. He said scientific data must serve the common good, with openness and integrity. The Prime Minister stressed that cooperation over confrontation, sustainability over short-term gain and inclusion over exclusion must be prioritised as orbits become more crowded and actors more numerous. He said, for centuries, space inspired our imagination and today it shapes life on Earth, from climate and crops to oceans and communities. He said, the promise of space is infinite.
Highlighting the remarkable growth of country’s space journey, Mr. Modi said Chandrayan-3 made India the first nation to land near the lunar south pole and Aditya-L1 is unlocking the secrets of the Sun. He said, an Indian visited the International Space Station last year. He said, India aims to establish an Indian space station by 2035 and send an Indian to the Moon by 2040. He said, country’s guiding principle is clear their benefits must reach all humanity.
Lauding the role of ISRO in space journey, Mr. Modi said ISRO has earned global admiration for its excellence and cost-effective missions. He said, its capabilities serve farmers and fishermen, weather forecasting, disaster management and navigation and more than 430 satellites from 34 countries have travelled to space aboard Indian rockets. He said, ISRO’s technologies and partnerships serve not only India, but the wider world. He appreciated the contribution, dedication and hard work of generations of Indian scientists, engineers and technicians. The Prime Minister said that ISRO has built its reputation mission by mission, success by success, and given India a place of pride among spacefaring nations.

New Delhi|Sept, 10: Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday said that the Narendra Modi led government has completely transformed the country’s disaster management system and set the goal of zero casualty. He was speaking while chairing the third meeting of the Governing Body of the National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) in New Delhi.
Home Minister Shah said that the government is focusing on three pillars which are risk reduction, early warning systems and zero casualty. He stressed that the zero casualty approach should not be limited to disaster sites but should also focus on preventing disasters.
The Home Minister said that over the last 12 years, there has been a comprehensive transformation in country’s approach and methodology towards disaster management. He highlighted initiatives such as Mission LiFE, Pro-Planet People and the International Solar Alliance as important contributions towards disaster prevention. He said the government’s goal is to create disaster-resilient villages and cities.
Mr Shah said that the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) have responsibilities ranging from policymaking to training and implementation, keeping in view emerging disaster risks arising from global warming and climate change. He directed both institutions to study global research and implement relevant findings in India according to local requirements. He called for permanent preparedness to deal with locust swarm attacks originating from Pakistan and stressed the need to give priority to committed personnel in disaster management training. He also directed NDMA and NIDM to jointly issue nationwide guidelines specifying what should and should not be done during different types of disasters. The Minister emphasized the need for research to identify the causes of disasters and directed NDMA, NIDM, NDRF and SDRF to jointly study the causes of damage and prepare detailed reports.
Mr Shah said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided that the distribution of disaster funds should also follow a scientific process. He noted that allocation under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) has increased nearly fourfold, while allocation under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) has increased nearly threefold. He also called for wider adoption of the disaster management mobile application in higher, secondary and primary education sectors. He directed all stakeholders to establish dedicated cells in their departments and asked department heads to review implementation every three months.

Mehbooba Mufti expressed deep grief and sorrow over the untimely demise of Aftab Ahmed Mir and conveyed her sympathies to the bereaved family. She prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and for strength and fortitude to the family members to bear the irreparable loss.

She described the deceased as a dedicated and committed worker of the party who remained associated with the PDP and worked sincerely for strengthening the party at the grassroots level. She said his sudden demise has left a deep void among his colleagues, friends and the entire PDP family.

BANDIPORA, SEPTEMBER 07: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, on Monday inaugurated a 6-day Psychology-Driven STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Training Workshop for government school teachers and students at Nadim Memorial Boys Higher Secondary School (NMBHSS), Kaloosa.

The workshop is organized under the Jammu & Kashmir Science Technology & Innovation Council (JKST&IC) sponsored project titled “Psychology Driven STEM Learning to build scientific temper in the border villages of Kashmir.”

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the pivotal role of experiential, student-centric pedagogy in demystifying science and technology education. She highlighted that integrating psychology-driven interventions into STEM disciplines will ignite curiosity, enhance problem-solving capabilities, and nurture an enduring scientific temperament among students, particularly in border districts. She stressed that children from all age groups, including those outside the formal school system, should be encouraged to visit and utilize these labs to explore, experiment and develop scientific curiosity.

Paying tributes to Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted the visionary legacy of Mahamana and his monumental contributions to advancing engineering education and industrializing India.

He said that Mahamana’s ideals and vision continue to inspire generations to advance technology, strengthen the economy and serve society.

In his address, the Lieutenant Governor discussed how Artificial Intelligence will drive economic growth by combining human potential with machine intelligence, and called for Responsible AI.

He emphasized that AI must remain anchored in ethics, core values, and strict human oversight. Technology must be proactively guided by humanity to ensure it serves the collective well-being of all people, he said.

Recalling Swami Vivekananda’s historic September 11, 1893 address in Chicago, the Lieutenant Governor lauded the significant contribution of IIT (BHU) Global Alumni and Indian Diaspora to the upliftment of global society.

He urged the IIT (BHU) Global Alumni to actively participate in India’s ongoing civilisational and economic resurgence.

The Lieutenant Governor also outlined a four-point roadmap calling on alumni to invest in India’s next-generation institutions through mentorship and capital, build strategic partnerships between American and Indian institutions, share an accurate narrative of India’s transformation, and reconnect with their roots by bringing home their wealth of experience and knowledge.

JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 07: Joint Director Agriculture (Inputs), Jammu Sanjay Anand, today chaired a comprehensive review meeting with district officers and field functionaries to assess the progress of various activities.

The meeting was attended by Joint Director Agriculture (SLUB/Farms) Aman Jyoti Sharma, Potato Development Officer Jammu, District Agriculture Officers, Area Development Officers, Divisional Seed Certification officer Jammu, Mushroom Development Officers, Apiculture Development Officers, Spawn Production Officers, Farm Managers and concerned district-level officers, Officers from Agronomist Vegetable Improvement Scheme Jammu and staff.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the physical and financial progress of Seed Multiplication Farms at Chinore and Chakroi, including sowing under Kharif 2026, revenue realization, seed recovery, procurement and distribution of seeds, pending seed handling vouchers and the cropping programme for Rabi 2026-27. Officers were directed to ensure timely submission of Treasury challans, revenue statements, seed distribution bills and other pending records, besides expediting recovery of outstanding seed dues.

The meeting also reviewed the status of mushroom cultivation, including district-wise mushroom growers, Hi-Tech/Climate Controlled and Seasonal Cropping Rooms and Pasteurized Compost Units established under departmental, private, HADP and PMFME interventions.

Under Apiculture, the meeting reviewed registration of new beekeepers on the Madhukranti Portal, implementation of projects under HADP/JKCIP and NBHM, assessment of losses due to Small Hive Beetle, honey production, FSSAI licensing and production and revenue performance. The status of spawn production, requirement of Button and Dhingri spawn, pending revenue recovery and advance requirement of Shiitake Blocks was also discussed.
