Int’l nurses day celebrated in DH Poonch

Poonch : A function was organized at District Hospital Poonch in connection with the celebration of International Nurses Day. The Deputy Commissioner Poonch Rahul Yadav was the chief Guest, besides the Chief Medical Officer Poonch, Dr Ghulam Malik, Medical Superintendent DH Poonch, Dr Shamim ul Nissa Bhatti, Doctors, paramedic staff and nurses were also present on the occasion.
International Nurses Day is celebrated on May 12 to mark the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale. Each year, the International Council of Nurses (ICN) comes up with a theme to honour nurses. For 2020, the theme chosen for International Nurse Day is ‘Nursing the world to health.’
While speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner Poonch acknowledged the immense contribution of nursing staff in the patient healthcare. He also highlighted that nurses are at the forefront to fight pandemics and applauded the important role nurses are playing across the world. In order to encourage the working of nurses the Deputy Commissioner Poonch also presented shawls as a token of respect.
