Srinagar: The Government Thursday informed that 33 new positive cases of novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), all from Kashmir division, have been reported Thursday thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 614.
According to the daily Media Bulletin on novel coronavirus (Covid-19), out of 614 positive cases, 390 are Active Positive, 216 have recovered and 08 have died.
Moreover, 24 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 04 recovered from Jammu Division & 20 recovered from Kashmir Division.
The Bulletin further saidout of 19746 test results available, 19132 samples have tested as negative till April 30, 2020.
Furthermore, till date 70408 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which include 7335 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 193 in Hospital Quarantine, 390 in hospital isolation and 8398 under home surveillance. Besides, 54084 persons have completed their surveillance period.
Providing district-wise breakup, the Bulletin saidBandipora has 127 positive cases wherein 102 are Active Positive, 24 recovered, 01 died; Srinagar has reported 02 fresh cases Thursday taking positive cases to 89 with 19 Active Positive, 68 recovered (including 17 recovery Thursday), 02 died; Baramulla reported 11 new cases Thursday taking total number of positive cases to 84 with 60 Active Positive, 21 recovered, 03 died; Anantnag district reported 12 new cases which led to 83 positive cases with 82 Active Positive, 01 died; with 01 new case Thursday, Shopian has 72 positive cases with 59 Active Positive, 13 recovered; Kupwara has 49 positive cases with 30 Active Positive, 19 recovered ; Budgam reported 01 new positive cases taking its total to 20 of which 10 are Active Positive with 10 recovered cases (including 01 recovery Thursday); Ganderbal has 14 positive cases with 09 Active positive and 05 recovered; Kulgam reported 04 new cases Thursday making total positive cases to 11 with 09 Active Positive and 02 recoveries Thursday ; Pulwama also reported 02 fresh cases taking total number of positive to 07 with 04 active positive, 03 recovered.
Similarly, Jammu has 26 positive cases with 26 recoveries (03 recoveries Thursday); Udhampur 20 positive cases of which 02 are Active Positive, 17 recovered (including 01 Thursday) and 01 died, while as Samba district has 04 positive cases and all the cases have recovered; Rajouri has 04 positive cases, 01 active positive and 03 have recovered; Kathua has 01 positive case who is active positive; Kishtwar had only 01 positive case who has recovered; Ramban has 01 positive case who is Active Positive; Meanwhile, Reasi has 01 positive case who is Active Positive.
The Bulletin saidthe breakup represents districts from which the patients have been traced or are ordinarily residing.
People are informed that spraying or introducing bleach or any other disinfectant into your body will not protect you against COVID-19 and can be dangerous. People are therefore advised that;
Advisory issued in the media bulletin advised people that under any circumstance don’t use spray or introduce bleach or any other disinfectant into the body.
“These substances can be poisonous if ingested and cause irritation and damage to your skin and eyes. Bleach and disinfectant should be used carefully to disinfect inanimate surfaces only. Remember to keep chlorine (bleach) and other disinfectants out of the reach of children.”
Stressing on the early detection of COVID-19 to prevent the spread of disease, advisory said, “let us be responsible for the well-being of ourselves and everyone around us.”
It further saidnot disclosing symptoms could put life of individuals and their families at risk. “In case of symptoms like fever, cough and difficulty in breathing report early. Do not fear, call COVID-19 helpline numbers and seek medical advice,” reads the advisory.
Advisory urged people not to step out of home, unless absolutely necessary. “If you have to move out for unavoidable reasons, ensure that you wear a mask and practice social distancing, personal hygiene and frequent handwashing.”
Similarly, all social, religious and other gatherings are strictly prohibited.
In case of any emergency people can avail free ambulance services 24×7 at their doorsteps by calling on toll-free number 108 while as pregnant women and sick infants can avail free ambulance services by dialling toll-free number 102.
People can also call on toll-free national helpline number 1075; J&K COVID-19 Helpline Numbers 0191- 2549676 (UT level Cell), 0191-2520982, 0191-2674444, 0191-2674115 (For Jammu Division), 0194-2440283 & 0194-2430581 (For Kashmir Division) for support, guidance, and response to health-related queries on Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19).
Public is advised to strictly follow the advisories issued by the government from time to time and are urged to rely only on the information released by the government through the daily media bulletin to print and electronic media.
People are also advised to refrain from spreading rumours and pay no heed to them at the same time.
