Srinagar: Director Food , Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Kashmir Bashir Ahmad Khan on Tuesday said that the physical re-verification of AAY and BPL card holders is subject to bonafide complaints only and power to exclude or include any BPL or AAY beneficiary on the basis of complaints after proper physical re-verification is only vested with the deputy commissioner of the concerned district as head of the district level designated committee constituted by the government for the said purpose.
Reacting to the complaints of inclusion of the affluent people in the AAY and BPL lists, the Director FCS &CA Kashmir Bashir Ahmad Khan told Kashmir Horizon over phone “ complaints or objections over inclusion or exclusion of any one from the AAY and BPL lists are looked into by the district level designated committees headed by deputy commissioners and as such the power to exclude or include any one in the BPL or AAY category is only vested with the deputy commissioner of the concerned district as head of the district level designated committee”. When asked about the re-verification of the AAY and BPL categories across Kashmir, the Director FCS& CA said “ such a decision has to taken by the apex level designated committee already constituted by the government but for time being no such proposal is on cards”. As already reported that after the lockdown enforcement due to break of COVID -19 pandemic reports about some destitutes and handicapped denied the rights of supply of ration under AAY and BPL categories have appeared in several local dailies and news channels. Similarly complaints about some affluent people including traders, government employees and contractors availing the facility of ration under AAY and BPL categories are pouring in from almost all the districts of both Kashmir valley and as well as Jammu division. However in rare case the authorities have taken note of such complaints for proper redressal of the grievances of the complainants
